Blah, Blah, Blah.. and more Blah.

Ok. So obviously I think on a completely different level than some. I get me. C'mon people! Travel with me here... let's hop down this trail together (see what I did there?).

In my last blog, it was brought to my attention that I somewhat sounded as if I am having issues in my life. I am in no way having issues, my friends (besides the everyday problems of what to cook for supper or doing laundry..and as of late, cleaning the litter box).

I want to be clear in what I was trying to say.. Because I feel that it's important for those of you out there that I consider amazing people, to understand the "behind the scenes" of my somewhat cryptic ramblings.

I was simply stating (in a deeper way) that every decision in life has a consequence. We have to trust ourselves. We have to have faith that what we are doing is right. And, when you are alone, sometimes YOU is all you got.
It was actually a loving way of saying how amazed I am to have such an amazing person to be with me during difficult decisions. Check the last few lines again.

Ok. So no more "deep thoughts" from Auntie. Sheesh! I guess I just need to stick to the comedy.

Th-th-th-th-that's all Folks!

Just Blah

The "blah" mood. Can't be good. Monday + Blah Mood = T.N.T

I didn't sleep real well last night. My mind was filled with questions and uncertainty. I hate those nights. Usually, I am my own worst enemy when it comes to analyzing a situation. I can over-analyze the reason a fruit fly is sitting on a banana. It's what I do. Deep thought. Questions run rampant in my mind, anyway. Most people who really know me, know that I'm generally always thinking.

I'm not quiet often. But when I am, it's because I'm angry, or I'm thinking. And, when I say "angry" I mean; spit fire, horns out, watch it- angry. I tend to say what's on my mind (if you want to know it or not), so when I'm angry AND quiet...whew!

I'm not angry today. I'm thinking.

Wondering.

How can you trust your own decisions? Do you always make the right choice? If not, how do you deal with the ramifications of failure? Don't get me wrong. I'm not doubting myself for anything.. I'm just thinking. ..out loud, kinda.

People talk about trust. Trust in your spouse. Trust in your family. Trust in your faith. I think the single most important level of trust, is Trust in yourself. We are our own, worst enemy. I can be harder on myself than any one person, dog, President or alien out there. I'm the hardest to trust, the hardest to forgive and the hardest to love... myself. OH!.. Don't forget.. the very first to doubt!

I think faith is the key. Trust and Faith run hand-in-hand. But there IS a difference. Think about it. I can trust myself to take the first step across the balance beam. That gives me the "umph" to start. To take initiative. Once my foot hits the beam, I can have Faith that I will make it across. I can believe in me.

But what happens if I fall? What happens when I fail, even with all of the faith and trust I have in myself?

Sure, I will brush myself off and start again... I can do it. I will do it. I won't stop until I do....
But, wouldn't it be nice to have a helping hand? A smile at the end, full of encouragement and cheer.
After all... I can trust them. Can't I?

Slow Down

I want to share a story with you that has really made me think. It's a little lengthy, but worth your time.

Washington, DC Metro Station, on a cold January morning in 2007.

The man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time approximately 2,000 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.

After 3 minutes a middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried to meet his schedule.

4 minutes later:
The violinist received his first dollar: a woman threw the money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk.

6 minutes:
A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.

10 minutes:
A 3-year old boy stopped but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. Every parent, without exception, forced their children to move on quickly.

45 minutes:
The musician played continuously. Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace. The man collected a total of $32.

1 hour:
He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars.

Two days before, Joshua Bell sold out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.

Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people’s priorities.

The questions: in a common place environment at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?

One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be this:
If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made….

How many other things are we missing?

This is How I ROLL!

You know? SO much is going on in my life right now, I can't even begin to list it all. But, it's all good. I just haven't had time to sit and write a blog in a while. I, however, could NOT let this time period go by without a tribute. This weekend starts an incredible journey. A marvelous time of blood, sweat, tears and mud. Broken bones, bloody noses, snot bubbles and torn tendons. Pride, cheers, fights and bets. Grilled meat, beer, chicken wings and chips.

ROLL TIDE, ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's time for FOOTBALL!!! That's right. Shoulder pads, helmets and cleats. I can smell the sweat in the air and boy does it smell good! So, for the next 13-15 weeks, I will return to my regular football schedule: wake on Saturday morning around 8..clean the house and wash a load of clothes...prepare the food and find my spot on the sofa around 11am. ...not to be disturbed until around 9 or 10 that night. For it is football season, people! Let's get with it. Let the pigskin fly and the other team die!

Keep a look out this year for the Crimson Tide. Since LSU players enjoy cop car rides, their team will probably suffer this season. Let's see ol Les pull this one out!

Tide to the Top! Whoop whoop!

S.O.S

Just thought I would pop in and say "hello."

I am in the process of remodeling and moving all at one time, so it's been crazy around my place for about a month now. I hate that I haven't been writing like I want to, but other things need to be done at the moment.

I promise to be back and blogging more regularly in a few weeks. Until then... Keep on keeping on!

Life's a garden. Dig it.

Love is a Verb

No. I'm not dead. I'm still here. But, who knows for how long!?

I've been a busy little bee lately. Trying to get some stuff done to the house and such...it's time consuming! Lots of cleaning. Lots of painting. Lots of complete overhauls. But, it's coming along nicely and I am very happy with our progress and the time I have to spend with amazing people in my life.

Talking to a friend of mine today, we came across the thought: If people would mind their business, and take care of what is going on in their life..they wouldn't have to think of ways to keep people in their life happy! What happens when we lose people? What is some of the first things that come into our mind?

..I should have... I wish I would have... I should have told them...

Why do we wait until time is GONE to make our decisions to actively love someone? I'm not talking just hugs and kisses and "I love you"s. I'm talking about a conscious effort to live and breathe love for someone. I'm not talking about going all "it rubs the lotion on the skin"... I'm talking about maintaining a constant line of communication with that person; the key being... Positive Reinforcement. I capitalized those two words because I wanted emphasis on them.

Remember when I asked you to keep a log of positive days and negative days? ...It's been a few weeks. What did you come up with? How many times did you actually let someone know that you had a wonderful day, just because you were able to live it?

Sometimes, the ones we love get just as much gratification of knowing that we are happy; as we do, actually BEING happy! It's a matter of communication. Just taking the time to tell that person a random thought. You know, it may not register to them for a while.. but it means a lot to know that you just took a moment to acknowledge them.

Don't Stop! What does it take, two seconds to write a sappy love note and leave it so they will find it? How many times do you go into a convienience store?.. Do you get you something? .. Do you get them something because you just thought about it? A friend of mine, one time called these little things: Sprinkles. The things in life that you don't have to have... but they just make life that much sweeter when you do. I want to be a sprinkle magnet. How 'bout you? I like sprinkles.
Sprinkles are gooooood.

Pondering

Thinking a little today. Wondering if there is an ultimate answer to any of the random, thwarted questions in life. Are we even supposed to know the answers?

I know that in situations in life, certain criteria must be met in order to complete a formulated plan. In those cases, answers may or may not be reached. In those cases, the answer comes as you embark on the journey that will ensue once you've made your decision. In this case? Things SUCK. In these cases, I've found that you must always go with your first instinct. It may not be the most logical choice.. or the easiest. But, first instincts are almost always right (unless you're drunk..in that case, please refrain from doing anything that the phrase "hold my beer and watch this" precedes).

I know all of that sounds jumbled up. Let me see if I can elaborate in an easier manner...
..

....um.

..nope. I can't dumb it down without sounding.. dumb.

So, let me just say this: If you're faced with a decision that will most certainly affect a key point in your life..and you find yourself in the pit of uncertainty. Go with your heart. That one, still, small voice in your head that tells you, "this is the way it's supposed to be."

Indeed, it may NOT turn out how you expected..and you may get bit in the process.. but in the end.. you've got to be happy. You've got to be able to sleep at night. And, as long as you've followed your heart..and can attest to the fact that you gave it your all.. there is nothing left to question. Nothing left to deliberate on.

..make sure it's the still, small voice.. not the erratic, deep, growl that you follow... I can't be responsible for what happens in that circumstance.
